TONGUE EXERCISE

1) Tongue Extension. Protrude tongue between lips. Sticking out tongue as far as you can. Hold tongue steady and straight for 3 to 5 seconds. Relax and Repeat 5 times.

2) Tongue Retraction. Retract tongue, touching the back of your tongue to the roof of your mouth (as if producing the /k/). Hold for 1 to 3 seconds. Relax and Repeat 5 times.

3) Tongue Extension and Retraction. Combine the two procedures above, holding each position for 1 to 3 seconds. Relax and Repeat 5 times.

4) Tongue Tip Up. Place tongue on alveolar ridge, (the area behind your top teeth.) If you don't have any teeth move your tongue tip up to your gum where your top teeth would be. open mouth as wide as possible maintaining tongue contact. Hold for 3 to 5 seconds. Relax and Repeat 5 times.

5) Tongue Elevation Along the Palate. Tongue tip to alveolar ridge, (The area behind your top teeth) Move tongue front to back along the roof of your mouth. Relax and Repeat 5 times.

6) Tongue Side to Side.  Tongue tip to left side of mouth, hold for 3 to 5 seconds. Tongue tip to right side of mouth. Hold for 3 to 5 seconds. Relax and repeat 5 to 10 times.

7) Tongue Tip Up- Jaw Down. If you can perform exercise Tongue Tip Up, Lower your jaws as far as you can while keeping tongue tip behind your teeth. Hold your jaw in that position for 3 to 5 seconds. Relax and Repeat 5 times.

8) Tongue Push Forward. Stick out your tongue as far as you can. Put something flat (Back of a spoon or a tongue depressor) against your tongue with the flat object at the same time as you push against the flat object with your tongue. Hold for 1 to 2 seconds. Repeat 5 times.

9) Tongue Push Up. Push down on your tongue with the flat object, while at the same time, you push up with your tongue. Hold 1 seconds. Repeat 5 times.

10) Tongue Push to the Side. Extend your tongue as far as possible to the corner of your mouth while pressing against a tongue depressor. Hold for 1 seconds. Repeat 5 times. (Repeat for each side of the mouth unless instructed otherwise).

11) Tongue Inside Push. Put your finger against your right cheek about 1 to the side of the corner of your mouth.
From the inside, push your tongue against your cheek where your finger is touching. Push as hard as you can. Hold it for 1 to 2 seconds. Relax and Repeat 5 times for each side of the mouth unless instructed otherwise.

12) Open your mouth as wide as you can, and touch the tip of your tongue to your upper teeth or to the front of the palate. Do this for 3 to 5 seconds, and repeat 5 to 10 times.

13) Again, Open your mouth and touch the tip of your tongue to the back of the roof of your mouth. Keep your tongue back for 3 to 5 seconds, and repeat 5 to 10 times.

14) Stick your tongue out as far as you can, and leave it there for approx 10 seconds, Do this for 5 to 10 times.

15) Bring the tip of the tongue to the very back of the roof of your mouth, and keep it there for about 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise for 5 to 10 times.

16) Move the tip of your tongue across the roof of your mouth from the very front (Just behind your upper teeth) to the very back (to where the soft palate is located.) Do this 10 times, bringing it as far back as possible each time. Repeat the exercise 5 to 10 times.

17) Press the inside of each cheek with the tip of your tongue. Repeat the exercise 5 to 10 times.

18) Stick your tongue out as far as you can. using its tip, press up against a spoon or some other clean object. Do this for 5 to 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise 10 times.

19) Run your tongue round the inside of your mouth, push it between your lips, up round the out side of your teeth, over the roof of your mouth and down on the base of your mouth. Do this for 10 seconds.

20) Say lah lah lah lah lah lah lah lah... at an easy speed. Do this 5 times, feeling the tip of your tongue curl up to touch just behind your teeth.

21) Then do the same for some back of tongue sounds:

Guh gee gah - Guh gee gah -Guh gee gah

Lip Exercises

LIP EXERCISES

Proper lip movement is a very important role for a Voice Over Artist. So here are some Lip movement exercises for everyone.

1. Lip Retraction. Smile. hold for 5 seconds. 

  Relax and repeat for 5 times.

2. Lip Protrusion. Pucker your lips as if you were going to give some one a kiss. hold for 5 seconds. Relax and repeat 5 times.

3. Lip Retraction & Protrusion. Smile.  Then pucker your lips. use exaggerated movements. Relax and Repeat 5 times.

4. Lip Press. Press Lips tightly together for 5 seconds. Relax and repeat 5 times.

5. Lip Press on Tongue Depressor. Tightly press Lips around tongue depressor, while the clinician tries to remove it. Perform for 3 to 5 seconds. Relax and repeat 5 times.

6. Puff Cheeks.  Fill cheeks with air, Move air from one cheek to another cheek for 5 to 10 times. No air should escape from around the lips or the nose. Relax and repeat 5 times.

7. Sit upright and place your lips and teeth together. without opening your lips, smile as broad as you can and count till 15 before you relax. Pucker your lips to a pointed kiss. Repeat 10 times.

8. Sit straight and press your lips together. Lift your pressed lips towards your nose as close as you can. Retain the position while counting till 5. Relax and repeat 10 times.

9. Position your lips into a puckered kiss and retain the position for a while. Relax and pull your lips inside mouth to get enclosed within the teeth. Hold the position counting till 10. Repeat the entire exercise 5 times.

10. Gently press your lips together and bring the corners of the mouth together inside your mouth as close as possible with your mouth muscles. Hold your lips in this position for 5 counts and relax. Repeat 5 times.

11. Sit casually with your lips slightly open. Pucker the lips outwards and pull the tops puckered lip towards the nose as close as possible. Hold the position for 10 counts and relax. Repeat the exercise 5 times.

12. Press your lips in over your teeth, as if you are preventing yourself from screaming. Using your index fingers, pull up the corners of the lips as you would, while indicating someone to smile. Keep this position for 5 seconds. Relax and repeat 10 times.

13. Open your mouth and stretch your lips out in front. Tightly close your lips and relax the face muscles. While keeping your mouth closed, move your lips to the right and then to left. There after make a small eight with your lips. Repeat this sequence 5 times.

14. Stretch your lips out and breath out sharply, as your would to blow out a candle. Gently relax your lips and repeat 5 times.

15. Take a deep breath and puff up your cheeks. Then roll up your lips into a tube. Gradually, breath out the air by pushing the air out with two-three blows.

16. Close your lips and curl them. Then curl the lower lip over the lower jaw and open your mouth wide open, while moving the jaw up and down at the same time. Perform this exercise for 10 to 15 minutes per day.

17. Say mi, mu repeatedly.

18. Gently bite your lower lip.

19. Gently bite your upper lip.

DICTION EXERCISES

       Even if your speech contents are thoughtful and profound, you need to know how to deliver them effectively. Your Expressions need audience! The great leaders who have ruled and enlightened the world have all been great orators. Great Orators are lucid and flamboyant in their enunciation. It is not that all are born great rhetoricians. Never mind if you are not gifted, a certain degree of effort and articulation exercises can do wonders for your oratory skills. Most people believe that those who are born with speech impediments only require articulation exercises. It is not true though. Those who aspire to be voice over artists, stand-up performers or even great orators need a couple of simple techniques up their sleeve for greater success. 

      These techniques are what enables them to speak more lucidly and emphatically. Children make erroneous pronunciation at the initial stages, which are particularly amusing and frivolous. However if after a certain age, it doesn't change then the child is said to be suffering from some kind of speech disorder. In such cases, articulation exercises may be of immense help in overcoming and even eliminating the impediments. If a child is diagnosed with speech disorder, it is suggested that these techniques must be adopted and implemented by their parents at the very inception.

        Here are some articulation exercises, which will enable you to gain command on your verbal communications.

1. Try to gain a better control over your tongue. Talk to your self when you are alone or read aloud. It will allow your tongue to have a great deal of flexibility and agility. It will lead you to possess an absolute command over your tongue, and you will turn into a flamboyant speaker.

2. Articulation disorders are often due to inefficacy of the muscles involved. Running the tongue around the walls of the mouth and stretching the jaws are good exercises to start with. Chewing gum and sucking through straws are good for mouth muscles. Practice tongue twisters as frequently as possible. Try to be really fast while reciting tongue twisters and maintain clarity. If you falter, start again. While speaking publicly, speak slowly and carefully., putting desired stress upon every word. Sprout every word as clearly as possible.

3.Recite a poem or narrate a story and record it. Listen to it afterwards. It will help you to figure out the words or letters you need to put more emphasis on. Take note and amend the flaws. Keep repeating the process and keep comparing with the last results.

4. One must get an idea of how his or her mouth moves while speaking. Pick some dialogue from your favourite movie and try to mimic the style in which it was delivered. Stand and speak in front of a mirror. You will know how your mouth moves while speaking and consult an expert on how you should go about it in order to cure the anomalies, if any.

5. Collect some of the great speeches of great orators and listen to them over and over again. Notice where and when they pause. How certain words or phrases are stressed or emphasized on. Imitate and consider yourself for a moment to be one of them. speak the way they did and recalibrate your speech. For instance, Swami Vivekananda's great speech at the art institute of Chicago is an epitome of the art of oration. Listen to it carefully and practice.

6. Talk to your family members without the fear of being ribbed or mocked at. Talk as much as possible in order to overcome the obstacles you are facing regarding your speech. Recite a poem or read a story aloud in front of them even if you are facing difficulties in the process and faltering repeatedly at certain words or sounds. Do it on a regular basis. Don't be afraid. Your intimate ones won't ridicule you even if you are severely lacking in your oratory skills. However it will certainly give your moral a boost for public speaking. Let them express their opinions and help you know the areas where you are facing most difficulties and how they think it should be done.

Hey guys.. Lets Start the journey of learning from a brief overview of the Radio industry, its history and its Importance. So let me compare and tell you first why Radio is better media than other medias like TV and Newspaper.
Radio V/S Television
Traditionally a high cost medium, the downside with the TV is that the audience is now fragmented across many different channels, production costs are extremely high and viewers are increasingly avoiding add breaks.

What Radio can add:
In Planning

• Radio's main contribution is a dramatic increase in frequency of exposures, either in the same period as the TV campaign.
• Extend the campaign over time; radio can be used for regional or local exposure booster;
• Radio can be used to reach light viewers; radio extends TV messages to key times of day when TV audiences are lower or when product relevance is higher (such as afternoon meal time for Pizza marketer);
• Radio also allows tighter targeting against many audiences(ex- youths) thus reducing wastage.

In Communication
Given that radio is perceived as personal medium, radio can bring brand closer and speak to the consumer at their level (this is important for brands which do not wish to be seen as distant); radio has a culture of response where listeners frequently interact with their station which they see as accessible.
